Reporting road hazards for cyclists

Reporting potholes, ridges, cracks or other dangerous road defects to the organizations
below can prevent injuries, because these organizations will relay your information to the responsible cities and counties and put them on notice of these conditions in time to correct them before a cyclist is seriously hurt. If the cities or counties are put on notice, but fail to take corrective action, they can be held legally liable for causing injury to bicyclists under Government Code Sections 835 and 835.2.

Fun and Useful Bicycle Related Products to Try

Arkel makes my favorite bicycle pouches to hold an Allen wrench, CO2 cartridge, spare tube, cash, cell phone, keys and/or energy gels. They make one that costs around $30 that uses a removable pouch that slides in and out of a holder, and which can be belted to the holder to eliminate the risk of objects falling while you ride. Arkel product distributors can be found on the web. In Oakland, Montona Velo on Piedmont Blvd. has Arkel bike bags.

Bicycle rollers from Cycle Oops are another fun, useful product that can be used to improve your balance and help you keep a good line while riding.

The Yamuno ball, available for purchase at www.yamuna.com is a firm ball that you roll your body over to lengthen muscles contracted by exercise, injury or tension. It works, its inexpensive and comes with a pump and a full instruction guide.
