Our Firm

HarveyThe Law Offices of Harvey A. Hyman represents clients with compassion, knowledge, integrity and perserverance. Hyman has 25 years experience in plaintiff's personal injury law and has handled cases involving death, brain injury, serious orthopedic injury and permanent psychological injury. He comes from a medical family (his dad, both uncles and older brother being physicians), so he is very conversant with and comfortable with the concepts and terminology of medicine and he is able to communicate well and relate well with the medical providers who treat his clients. Mr. Hyman is an avid bicyclist himself and rides his bike 3-5 times a week for fitness, health and spiritual recharge from our gorgeous California scenery. He hascomplete respect for the Personhood of his clients and seeks to make their experience with the legal system healing on all levels (not just financially but in terms of their physical and emotional well being) and he takes measures to make sure his clients will not be treated in a way that leaves them resentful, bitter or angry at lawyers and the legal system. Outside of the office he is involved with community efforts to make bicycling more fun, more accessible and more safe for families and their children. He is involved with Walk Oakland Bike Oakland as Board Member and Treasurer; the Safe Kids campaign to get all bike riding children wearing properly secured helmets; and the Ride of Silence, to promote awareness that inattentive automobile driving kills 700-800 bicyclists every year, and that car drivers must learn to truly share the road with bicyclists.

To investigate and prove bicycle injury claims, Mr. Hyman uses support personnel including accident investigators, bike accident reconstructionists, human factors experts, traffic engineers, medical experts, fitness experts, biomechanical engineers, medical illustrators, computer animation and videographers. He always wears his bike helmet when he rides. Every July you will find him glued to OLN watching the Tour de France.
